Soybean harvest advances into the last areas of Brazil

     Porto Alegre, April 26 2021 – The harvest of the new Brazilian soybean crop had a reasonable evolution last week in most states that still have areas to be reaped. Despite this, the work pace keeps lagging behind in Brazil, with Rio Grande do Sul standing out negatively with the longest accumulated delay.

     According to a survey carried out by SAFRAS & Mercado, until April 23, 91.3% of a total sown area of 38.65 million hectares were reaped, equivalent to approximately 35.29 million hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 88.6%. In the same period last year, 94.3% of the area had already been reaped, while the five-year average for the period is 93.3%.

     In Rio Grande do Sul, out of a total planting area of 6.08 million hectares, 65% were reaped, or approximately 3.95 million hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 55%. In the same period of the previous year, 92% had already been reaped, while the five-year average for the period is 81.6%.

     In Paraná, from a total area of 5.6 million hectares, 100% were reaped. In the previous week, the percentage was 99%. In the same period last year, 99% were already reaped, while the five-year average for the period is 98.8%.

     In Mato Grosso, out of a total area of 10.3 million hectares, 100% were reaped. In the previous week, the percentage was 100%. In the same period last year, 100% had already been reaped. The five-year average for the period is 100%.

     In Mato Grosso do Sul, from a total sown area of 3.25 million hectares, 100% were reaped. In the previous week, the percentage was 100%. In the same period of the previous year, 100% had already been reaped, while the five-year average for the period is 100%.

     In Goiás, out of a total sown area of3.795 million hectares, 99% were reaped, or approximately 3.76 million hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 99%. In the same period last year, 99% had already been reaped. The five-year average for the period is 99.8%.

     In São Paulo, out of a total sown area of 1.16 million hectares, 99% were reaped, or approximately 1.15 million hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 98%. In the same period of the previous year, 99% had already been reaped, while the five-year average for the period is 99.8%.

     In Minas Gerais, out of a total area estimated at 1.82 million hectares, 99% were reaped, or approximately 1.8 million hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 98%. In the same period of the previous year, the percentage reached 99%. The five-year average for the period is 98.6%.

     In Bahia, out of a total sown area of 1.7 million hectares, 90% were reaped, or approximately 1.53 million hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 80%. In the same period last year, 65% had already been reaped. The five-year average for the period is 75.4%.

     Weather forecasts point to a slightly moist week in the states of the South, Southeast and Midwest regions, which must favor the harvest progress. In the states of the North and Northeast regions, precipitation is expected, which may hinder the work pace.
